Job
Opportunities at Second Home Pet Resort
We always want to hear from people who love animals! Positions may become available at
any time, therefore, we are always accepting applications for the following positions, even if no current openings exist:
Guest Service Attendant
(currently hiring for part-time positions) ($8.50 + per hour - pay based on relevant experience) Your primary focus is
keeping our canine and feline guests safe, happy and comfortable. Responsibilities include all aspects of animal care and
light facility upkeep, including:
- Housekeeping
(cleaning and sanitizing animal areas, doing laundry)
- Room
service (preparing and feeding meals)
- Salon
services (bathing, brushing and nail trims)
- Guest
enrichment (exercise walks, play and cuddle sessions, resort activities)
- Assisting with the supervision of
dogs in doggie day care, as needed
- Special care and
observation (administering medications, noting any irregularities in an animal’s personality or condition)
- Light maintenance (changing light bulbs and air filters, sweeping
walkways, cleaning restrooms, etc.)
- Other
miscellaneous duties as assigned by management
The ideal candidate will have a neat appearance; possess good communication skills; be able to read instructions
and enter information into animal records; have an enthusiasm for and comfort around animals; be a team player, willing to
contribute where needed; and have a stable work history. Animal handling or veterinary technician experience required. Job
involves standing and walking 90% of the time, and regular bending; ability to lift 60 pounds safely, to waist height, is required.
AM and PM, full-time and part-time positions available.
Client Service Specialist (currently hiring for full or part-time positions)
($8.50 + per hour - pay
based on relevant experience) Our Client Services Specialists are the “face” of our organization
to our clients – responsibilities include:
- Taking reservations for and providing information about hotel stays and other services
- Maintaining accurate client records and performing administrative
tasks
- Communicating in person, by phone and
via e-mail with our clients about their pet resort needs
- Occasionallyassisting
with animal care and supervision, as needed
- Other
miscellaneous duties as assigned by management
The ideal candidate will have a polished and professional experience; be “affirmatively friendly”
and warm; possess excellent communication skills; have excellent spelling and data entry skills; have computer and customer
service experience; an enthusiasm for and comfort around animals; be a team player, willing to contribute where needed; and
have a stable work history. Animal handling or veterinary technician experience preferred. Job involves standing and walking
90% of the time and regular bending; ability to lift 60 pounds safely, to waist height, is required. High school diploma required.
Daytime and early evening, full-time and part-time positions available.
Grooming
Assistant (no
current openings) ($8.50 per hour) Our grooming assistant
will help our groomer with cat and dog baths and related duties, as well as providing caring, gentle and excellent service
to our animal guests. Responsibilities include: - Lifting animals in and out of grooming tubs
- Properly and humanely securing animals for their safety during bathing and grooming
- Properly applying grooming products, including
but not limited to shampoos and conditioners, and reading the application instructions on labels and product information sheets
- Bathing, brushing, and holding animals, including
those who don’t like to get wet or be brushed!
- Assisting groomer with nail trims, teeth-brushing and similar animal care duties
- Cleaning, scrubbing and sanitizing grooming
tubs, dryers, and other grooming equipment
- Vacuuming
and mopping floors, doing laundry, and performing other housekeeping-related duties in the grooming area
- Being alert and observant regarding an animal’s
physical or medical condition, as well as an animal’s body language
- Occasionally interacting with clients, obtaining information on their grooming preferences
and providing them with information about their pets
- Other duties not specified above, as required by management
The individual
we are seeking must possess excellent self-motivation skills; be calm and poised during stressful moments, be capable of working
at a rapid, yet methodical pace, demonstrate a high degree of urgency; be safety-conscious; and be willing to work on weekends
and major holidays, our peak periods for business. Typical work hours will vary based on business, but
shifts will likely begin no earlier than 5:00 am and will end no later than 6:00 pm, Monday through Sunday. The ideal candidate
will have a neat appearance; possess good communication skills; be able to read and follow instructions and enter information
into animal records, including into a computer system; have an enthusiasm for and comfort around animals of all species and
breeds, and a stable work history. At least 6 months of animal bathing work experience is required. Job involves
standing 80% of the time, regular bending, and extensive arm and shoulder movements above waist height; ability to lift 60
pounds safely, to waist height, is required. AM and PM, full-time and part-time positions available. Night Attendant (no
current openings) ($10.50
per hour) We pride ourselves in assuring a safe and secure environment for our guests around the clock. Our
night attendant maintains the facility while assuring that our guests have a peaceful night’s sleep. Responsibilities
include:
- Securing and monitoring
the facility and grounds
- Quietly monitoring
guests as they sleep
- Responding to guests
that need extra attention during the evening hours
- Cleaning
and sanitizing “people” areas (lobby, hallways, staff areas, public and employee restrooms)
- Cleaning and sanitizing animal areas and equipment (play equipment,
activity center, guest suites)
- Administering
nighttime medications
- Late evening walks
for canine guests
- Stocking supplies
- Transporting guests to veterinary hospital in case of emergency
- Other miscellaneous duties as assigned by management
The ideal candidate will possess good communication skills; be
able to read instructions and enter information into animal records; have an enthusiasm for and comfort around animals; be
highly self-motivated; be a team player, willing to contribute where needed; and have a stable work history. Animal handling
or veterinary technician experience preferred. Job involves standing and walking 80% of the time, and regular bending; ability
to lift 60 pounds safely, to waist height, is required. Shift is 10:00 pm to 6:30 am; a significant amount
of personal time for relaxing, studying, and reading is allowed during this shift after scheduled duties are complete. Must
have a dependable vehicle on site in order to transport animals during an emergency.
Resort Activities Coordinator (no
current openings) ($8.50
+ per hour - pay based on relevant experience) It’s all about fun! We’re not just a pet hotel,
we’re a pet resort with lots of activities for our resort guests. Responsibilities include:
- Doggie Day Care supervision (supervising play activities, monitoring
play sessions, grouping guests according to personality and play style)
- Providing guest enrichment activities including play and cuddle sessions, pet massage, brushing,
and nail trims
- Light housekeeping (including
guest laundry and maintaining cleanliness of play equipment and play areas)
- Animal health observation (noting irregularities in an animal’s personality or condition that
may point to a health concern)
- Other miscellaneous
duties as assigned by management
